Christian Lee
Born on October 11, 2003, Christian Lee is a ninth-grade student at Academies @ Englewood School of Biomedicine. He started playing the clarinet seven years ago at the age of 8 and was accepted to the Juilliard Pre-College Division and studies with Larry Guy. In 2016, he won first prize in the Manhattan International Music Competition. As a result, he performed in the Weill Carnegie Hall.
In 2017, he received the 1st prize in the National Artists Competition and the East Coast Music Competition and performed in the Bruno Walter Lincoln Center Hall. To expand his interest, Christian auditioned for the North Jersey School Music Association Region Band and was placed first chair concertmaster year (2017). He won 1st prize for both the International Grande Music Competition and the National Artists Competition. This last summer of 2018, he studied at the Interlochen Music Camp and performed in the Wind Symphony. He furthermore performed in a masterclass with Alexander Fiterstein through the Classical Bridge Festival. He currently participates in the New York Youth Symphony and received first chair concertmaster for the 2019 North Jersey School Music Association Region Band.
Christian has performed in several concert halls in New York, such as the Weill Carnegie Hall, Bruno Walter Lincoln Center Hall, Merkin Concert Hall At Kaufman Music Center, DiMenna Center for Classical Music, Paul Hall, Morse Recital Hall, Rosemary & Meredith Willson Theater, and Tishman Auditorium.
Beyond music, Christian enjoys running and participating in science and biomedicine related clubs such as Science Olympiad, HOSA, STEM, and Red Cross.
