Bailey-Michelle Collins has received praise for her “lyrical and spacious” performances of George Gershwin’s Concerto in F. In October 2018, Bailey was named a winner of the Lynn Concerto Competition, where she performed for a panel of esteemed judges including Avery Fischer Grant recipient Lydia Artymiw. As a result, she was featured as a piano soloist with the Lynn Philharmonia during their fall concert season, Guillermo Figueroa conducting. Bailey has since been engaged to appear three times with the Tampa Bay Symphony in 2019 as winner of the Jack Heller Young Artist Competition, and her upcoming season will include a New Mexico debut with the Santa Fe Symphony in January 2020. In May 2017, Bailey was awarded first prize at the Gray Perry Collegiate Piano Competition, sponsored by the Florida State Music Teachers Association. The following month, she was named a scholarship recipient for the National Society of Arts and Letters and performed in the organization’s annual awards gala. Bailey was selected to perform in Lynn
University’s Celebration of the Arts in spring 2017––a community-wide event held annually to showcase outstanding talent. She has also appeared in the university’s Mostly Music and Cabaret concert series. Her summer festival appearances include the University of Florida International Piano Festival, the Texas State International Piano Festival, and the Miami Music Festival. Bailey-Michelle began her piano studies at the age of five in Gainesville, Florida. She has since participated in a number of events nationwide where she has had the privilege to work with renowned instructors such as Natalya Antonova, Robert Roux, Fabio Bidini, and Julian Martin. As a developing soloist, Bailey has received scholarship awards from organizations including the Boston University Tanglewood
Institute and the Florida Federation of Music Clubs. At age sixteen, she made her orchestral debut under Robert Gary Langford as winner of the David Hubbell Concerto Competition. Bailey currently serves as a piano instructor for the Lynn University Preparatory School of Music, and she has had the pleasure to work at the internationally-acclaimed Interlochen Center for the Arts as a counselor for young artists. Bailey studied with Dr. Kevin Orr throughout high school at the University of Florida School of Music.
She is currently completing her third year of undergraduate studies with Dr. Roberta Rust at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music, majoring in Piano Performance. A member of the President’s Honors Society, Bailey takes pride in her academic achievements and participates in competitive debate in her free time.
