Ryan Murray
Ryan Murray is a senior Trombone Performance Major at The University of Texas at Austin, where he studies under Dr. Nathaniel Brickens. He has studied with some of the great trombone players of the world, including Joe Alessi, Michael Mulcahy, James Markey and Peter Ellefson. He has also played with many prestigious groups, such as the Brevard Music Center Orchestra, Brevard Sinfonia, The University of Texas Wind Ensemble, The University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, and The National Honors Performance Series Orchestra in Carnegie Hall. Ryan has also done well in competitions; being a finalist in the S.E. Shires solo competition at the Southeast Trombone Symposium, and being second alternate for the Lewis Van Haney Orchestral Excerpts Contest of the International Trombone Festival Competitions. Next, Ryan hopes to pursue his MM in trombone performance, then continue graduate school to get his DMA, with the hopes of one day playing in a major orchestra and teaching at the collegiate level.
