Claire Youn
Claire Youn is currently a 7th grader at Stoller Middle School in Portland, Oregon. She started her violin studies at age 5 under instruction of her mother, Hae-Jin Kim. Claire has been actively involved in many chamber groups and orchestras since she was 8 years old. She has attended the Chamber Music Camp of Portland for several years, and participated in OMTA Ensemble.
Festival where she was given numerous Outstanding Awards. Claire has played in the Metropolitan Youth Symphony’s Interlude Orchestra in 2014, and joined the Portland Youth Philharmonic Association since 2015 where she currently is a member of Portland Youth Conservatory Orchestra. As a solo musician, Claire has participated in many MTNA/OMTA events since 2013, and received numerous Outstanding Awards which include Trula Whelan Concerto Competition, Classical Festival and Romantic Festival. She was a youngest contestant who made to the Final round at Willamette Falls Symphony Young Artist Competition in 2018, and also was a finalist of American String Teachers Association of Oregon 2018 Solo Competition. Claire enjoys dancing, reading and painting in her spare time.
