Pei Ching (Selina) Chang


Pei Ching (Selina) Chang began her study of violin at the age of four at the Sin Yi School of Music in Taiwan. While studying with Meng-Ping Wu and Zongcheng Chen, Selina was invited to represent Taiwan as a violinist in the Cultural Exchange Concert of Taiwan and China. As the concertmaster of Sin Yi Symphony Orchestra in 2013, they were awarded 1st prize at the National Student Competition of Music under conductor Naoki Tokuoka. In 2014, her piano trio won 1st place in the Chamber Music category at the Taiwan Music Competition. The same year, Selina was awarded 2nd place in the Solo Violin category of the National Student Competition of Music. In 2015, she was invited to perform at the President Inauguration of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kaohsiung. In September 2015, Selina recorded with the Symphony Orchestra of Soochow University on their album Qin Huai Ru Shui. In past summers of 2015 and 2016, Selina participated in the Young Artist Program at Yellow Barn as a merit scholarship student. She performed in solo master classes given by Donald Weilerstein and Daniel Chong, and chamber music master classes by Kim Kashkashian, Vivian Weilerstein, and the members of Trio Cleonice. In the summer of 2018, Selina participated in the Aspen Music Festival. She studied with Robert Chen and Laura Chen and was a member of the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently a Senior in highschool at Miss Porter’s School and studies with Ke Gong Zhang, violin professor at Mannes College of Music.
