Elsa Swanson, soprano, is a senior studying voice at Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She is a two time winner of the North Dakota-Manitoba District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Recent stage appearances include Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar with Aberdeen Community Theater and Lola Markham in Samuel Barber’s Gallantry with Northern State Opera Theater. In November of 2017, Elsa was named a winner of the 2017-18 Aberdeen University/Civic Symphony Concerto/Aria competition and performed with the symphony in February. She is currently student teaching in Leola, SD and teaches private voice and brass lessons in Aberdeen.
