Ryan Gannon


Ryan Gannon is a 16-year-old junior at The Nueva School in San Mateo, CA. He has studied piano with Sujeeva Hapugalle since he was four years old.

Ryan has excelled in regional and international piano competitions, including first place and the Judges’ Distinction award at the American Protégé International Competition of Romantic Music, first place and the Best Overall Performer Award at the American Protégé International Concerto Competition, first place and Overall Outstanding gold medal at US Open Music Competition and Outstanding Pianist Award at LA Classics Alive Young Artist Competition. Most recently he was named a Finalist in the 2019 Ross McKee Piano Competition.

Ryan also won first place awards at the US New Star National Competition, Global Great Composer's Liszt Competition, Global Great Composer's The Music of America, Global Great Composer's Best Bach performance, Global Great Composer's The Music of Eastern Europe as well as multiple firsts at American Fine Arts International Competition, Menuhin Dowling Competition and US Open Music competitions.

He has also won top prizes at the Glory International Music Competition, US Open of Music Competition, US Open Concerto Competition and Honorable Mention award at the LA International Liszt Competition.

Ryan has given six prize winning performances at Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall and Stern Auditorium. He was selected twice to the Young Artist Program at Tanglewood Institute and has also studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Summer Sonata Program.

Community service is very important to Ryan. He gave his first full piano concert at age 8 to raise money to buy a piano for his local elementary school. He has participated and helped raise over $25,000 in studio community fundraising concerts every year, to help send local children to the San Francisco Symphony and other musical venues. He founded the Musical Outreach Club at his high school to nurture the school’s musical talent and to share it with the community. In addition to piano and school, Ryan enjoys sound design and production, swimming, tennis, math, reading, and spending time with his friends and family.
