Charles Zhao (age 16) was born in Orlando, Florida. He started taking regular piano lessons at age 6, and in the past few years has been studying under the guidance of Professor John O’Conor and Stanislav Khristenko. Charles has performed twice at the winners’ concerts at Weill Recital Hall at the Carnegie Hall in New York City, and has performed twice in concerts at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. At age 13, Charles gave his first 60-minute solo recital. In recent years, Charles performed in master classes under Professors Douglas Humpherys, Dmitry Rachmanov, Boris Slutsky and Vladimir Feltsman, and performed in concerts during 2018 PianoTexas International Academy and Festival, 2017 Gina Bachauer International Piano Festival, 2017 Aspen Music Festival and School, and 2016 Washington International Piano Festival.
