The Leo Quartet is s string ensemble from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania metropolitan area, United States. All the musicians are members and alum of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious youth orchestras. Coached by Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra violinist Irene Cheng, the quartet was organized in the fall of 2017 through the Youth Chamber Connection program.
The students meet regularly and compete occasionally. Because they all enjoy playing chamber music, Leo Quartet always seems to find time to get together and study music as an ensemble, despite their busy academic schedules. The Quartet is dedicated to promoting chamber music within the community. In its short history, the ensemble has provided Fiddlesticks pre-concert performances in Pittsburgh’s Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts, as well as many other venues, including Pittsburgh Speakers Series, Rodef Shalom Temple, and local churches.
