Cygnus Quartet
Chaehyun "Cuna" Kim, violin 1, Sein Lee, violin 2, Seowon "Thomas" Chang, viola, Mirra Rasmussen, cello
The Cygnus Quartet was founded in the fall of 2017 through the Youth Chamber Connection program (YC2). They are coached by cellist Karissa Zadinsky of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Although the members travel from all corners of Pittsburgh in order to rehearse, they are united in their passion and dedication to chamber music.
Cygnus has been featured in Pittsburgh’s first Korean Music Festival, advocating the need for cultural diversity and awareness. They have also performed at the 2017 Chartiers Valley Music Showcase Night and the Peters Township High School Winter Concert, among numerous other performances for their communities. All members are alumni or current players in the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Cygnus also was named a winner of the 2018 Young Artists Auditions sponsored by the Pittsburgh Concert Society in April and received an Anna and Benjamin Perlow scholarship. They performed at Carnegie Mellon University Kresge Hall for a winner's recital.
