Violist Madeleine Pintoff, age 16, lives in New York City and studies with Sophie Arbuckle at the Juilliard School, Pre-College division. Recently, she has won first prize in the Camerata Artists International Solo competition, Vivo International Music Competition, the East Coast International Music Competition, and Young Maestro Competition, leading to performances at Weill Hall and Merkin Hall. As an orchestral musician, she has played in the New York Youth Symphony as well as Juilliard’s Pre-College Orchestra and Pre-College Symphony, where she served as principal violist. An avid chamber musician, she has performed in numerous master classes, including those with Ani Kavafian, Daniel Phillips, and the Shanghai Quartet. The summer of 2018, she will attend the Heifetz International Music Institute. Outside of music, she spends time with her dog and loves taking nature photography, going bird-watching, and reading fantasy novels.
