The Final Five Brass Quintet
The Final Five Brass Quintet has served as the University of North Carolina Department of Music's premier brass ensemble since its inaugural performance for the School of Nursing in 2017. Since then, the Final Five has been committed to mastering and sharing the beautiful sound of original and arranged brass music within the Department and in the larger UNC community. From being featured as a quintet with the UNC Wind Ensemble in Bernstein's "Suite from Mass" at the College Band Directors' National Association Regional Conference to collaborating with a UNC dance troupe in the Carolina Performing Arts' Phillip Glass Festival, the quintet is in high demand. The Final Five is comprised of UNC undergraduate students--Renée McGee (trumpet, double major in Philosophy and Music with a minor in French), Thomas Richards (trumpet, double major in Physics and Computer Science), Thomas Marshall (horn, double major in Physics and Music), Katie Rose Hand (trombone, double major in Music and Spanish Linguistics), and Andrew McKeon (tuba, double major in Biology and Music).
