Tessa Vermeulen
Tessa Vermeulen, age 18, is a student of Hideko Amano. Tessa is a senior at York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois and is co-principal flute of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has been a finalist in the US Marine Band Concerto Competition, winner of the Walgreen’s Concerto Competition senior open division, the Lakeview Orchestra Concerto Competition, Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest concerto competition, the DePaul Concerto competition, Chicago Flute Club student competition senior division, and the York High School Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and principal flute in the Illinois All-State Honors Orchestra 2018. Tessa has performed as a concerto soloist with the Lakeview Symphony Orchestra of Chicago and the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra of Chicago. She had her radio debut performing a solo program for the WFMT 98.7 “Introductions” program. Last summer Tessa enjoyed touring Europe with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time Tessa loves painting and drawing. She intends to pursue flute performance in college this fall.
