Shefali Sahai


Shefali is currently learning from Scott Cmiel at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she is enrolled in the pre-college program. At the Conservatory she also studies music theory, vocal ensemble, and chamber music in a guitar quartet. She frequently performs in recitals and as a volunteer at a local senior center. She won second prize in the 2018 GCC Music of Mediterranean Europe competition, third prize in the 2018 GCC Artist of the Year competition, and third prize in the 2019 ENKOR International Music Competition. She was a semi-finalist for the Classics Alive Young Artists Auditions in 2018. In summer 2018 she studied with Dr. Matthew Cochran in the Classical Guitar Program at Interlochen Arts Camp. She has also played in masterclasses for Leo Brouwer, Ben Verdery, Laura Oltman, Yenne Lee, Raphaella Smits among others. In the summer of 2019 Shefali studied both solo and ensemble repertoire in Ben Verdery’s Maui Masterclass in Maui, Hawaii and at the New York guitar seminar at The Mannes School of Music, New York. In addition to playing the guitar, Shefali loves to read, play with her dog, and create her own digital music.
