Matthew, 17, started playing piano at the age of 8 under his first teacher Ms Flavia Cugini. Together they were able to perform in several beautiful recitals. Matthew was introduced to competitions when he began studying under Dr. Loretta Jankowski. As a result of these, he has had the opportunity perform at Carnegie Hall for winning competitions held by the Piano Teacher’s Association of America. Matthew is currently a student at Cab Calloway school of the Arts. Margaret Badger, another of his piano teachers, has given Matthew several opportunities to represent their grade level in masterclasses; with visiting professionals like: Alon Goldstein, Orion Weiss & Michael Brown.
In his free time, he helps accompany singers from school and our church choirs. He also enjoys collaborating with other students at his school, performing piano and string duets, accompanying dance performances, and supplementing music for recorded videos. He enjoys his exposure to new experiences and uses those opportunities to improve as a musician.
