Sophie Chan
Sophie Chan is a 6th grader at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. She won First Prize for the Hawaii Music Teachers Association (HMTA) Junior Piano Competition in 2017. In 2018, Sophie was the First Prize Winner of the International Music Competition for Best Chopin Performance, she also received Honorable Mention for the American Protege International Strings Competition in April, when she debut at the Carnegie Hall in New York, was a Hawaii local finalist in September for the Osaka International Music Competition and received Second Prize for the 2018 HMTA Junior Piano Competition in October. She received 2nd Place award at the 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competition in Hawaii. She received award for Third Place Winner of the American Protege International Piano & Strings Competition on June 16, 2019, and again performed at the Carnegie Hall in New York. She tied for 2nd place with her twin brother in the Osaka Competition Hawaii Preliminary Round for piano on September 2, 2019. On September 7, 2019, she received Third Prize Winner for the Artist of the Year in Age Group III, USA from Great Composers Competition Series. Most recently, on October 6, 2019, she received 4th prize at the 20th Final Round of the Osaka International Music Competition in the Section III Youth-Infant Category A Free Program Course for Piano.
Sophie's artistry includes playing church organ, viola, and beautifully drawing, sketching and painting nature's creatures and flora and fauna.
