Sasha Bult-Ito

Alaskan pianist Sasha Bult-Ito has appeared as soloist with orchestras in both the United States and Europe. She made her orchestral solo debut with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra at age seven after winning the Fairbanks Symphony Concerto Competition, of which she is a rare, three-time first-place laureate. Most recently, Sasha performed in Koerner Hall as a finalist of the Glenn Gould School Concerto Competition. She was also a semifinalist of the 2015 International e-Piano Junior and Fourteenth Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competitions.

Recent performances include Vasks Piano Quartet and Chausson Piano Trio at the Scotia Festival of Music in Halifax, Schumann Sonata in F-sharp minor at the John Perry Academy Summer Piano Festival 2017, and Saint-Saëns Concerto No. 2 with the Brunensis Virtuosi Orchestra under the baton of Danwen Wei at MusicFest Perugia in Italy. Sasha was also a part of the Internationaler Klaviersommer Cochem Meisterkurs in Germany during summer 2017.

Sasha has appeared on stages in numerous parts of North America and Europe, and has given over two dozen solo recitals of differing programs in the past eight years. She has performed in masterclasses by such notable artists as John O’Conor, Nelita True, Boris Slutsky, Alexander Kobrin, Jonathan Biss, and Matti Raekallio.

Apart from her love of the piano’s vast solo repertoire, Sasha has an immense interest in chamber music. The Ezra Duo, founded with violist Jacob Clewell, was recently announced first-prize winner of the Golden Classical Music Awards, Grand Prize Virtuoso, and IMKA Music Competitions, with invitations to perform in New York, Vienna, and Sarajevo. The duo has performed in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York, Toronto’s Koerner and Mazzoleni Halls, the Arts and Letters Club of Toronto, and Sir James Dunn Theatre in Halifax, and has performed in masterclasses by distinguished artists including legendary pianist Leon Fleisher and violists Richard O’Neill and Hsin-Yun Huang. Most recently they were guest artists in the Prime Chamber Music Society of Mississauga’s house concert series.

Upcoming performances include solo recitals in Canada and the United States featuring Schumann’s tremendous Sonata in F-sharp minor, concerts with the Ezra Duo, including the Città di Pinerolo e Torino – Città Metropolitana International Chamber Music Competition in Italy in March of 2018.

Beginning her piano studies at age four with her mother, Sasha attended the Interlochen Arts Academy for high school where she was a student of Thomas Lymenstull. She is currently studying under the direction of John Perry and David Louie at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where she is a full scholarship recipient.
