Maria Dell'Orefice
Maria Terese Dell’Orefice is from Wayne, Pennsylvania and is a rising senior majoring in piano performance at Baylor University under the tutelage of Jane Abbott-Kirk. She additionally continues to study with her piano teacher of many years, Sheila Paige, of Keyboard Wellness. Maria has placed in numerous piano competitions, namely, the Steinway Piano Competition, third place in the MTNA State Piano Competition for New Jersey, and the Crescendo International Piano Competition where she won overall first place and, as a result, performed at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall three times as a solo pianist. In 2017, Maria advanced to the finals of the Baylor University Concerto Competition playing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. In February 2018, Maria won Baylor University’s Semper Pro Musica competition, which resulted in another solo piano performance at Carnegie Hall in May 2018. She is the recent recipient of the 2018 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award, the highest award for an undergraduate music student, awarded by Baylor University through The Presser Foundation. In addition to piano, she is also an active violinist with the Baylor Symphony Orchestra. After her undergraduate studies, she plans to acquire both a Master’s and Doctoral degree in music and hopes to perform as much as possible as she begins building her career.
