Karen Baba has been taking piano lessons since the age of 4 and currently studies with Lena Grozman. She moved to the U.S.A. from Tokyo Japan in October 2016. She won 2nd place at 2018 United States Open Music Competition (USOMC) Showcase Solo and Honorable Mention in 2018 CAPMT Honors Competition. She also won the bronze prize in the 3rd Japan J.S.Bach Music Concours in 2013, received Diploma Award in the 4th European International Piano Concours in Japan (EIPIC) in 2013, 2nd place at Baroque Category in the 7th Beten Music Competition and performed as a prizewinner at Yamaha Ginza Hall in 2014. She also has been invited to perform at Suntory Hall in Tokyo, 2015. She is a 5th grader in Palo Alto, California, and enjoys ice skating, reading and playing violin.
