Justin Chan

I am 10 years old and a student at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I started playing piano when I was 5 years old and began serious piano study with Dr. Kristin Elgersma when I was 8 years old. When Dr. Elgersma left the island, I was fortunate to find my current teacher, Dr. Wendy Yamashita.

My first piano competition was for the Hawaii Music Teachers Association (HMTA) where I received Honorable Mention in October, 2016. My 2nd competition was for the Aloha International Piano Festival in June, 2017, where I also received Honorable Mention. In October, 2017, I received 3rd place award from the HMTA competition. On March 1, 2108, I received the award of Second Prize Winner from the Great Composers International Music Competition for Best Chopin Performance. Most recently, on April 1, 2018, I received the award of Piano Young Musicians Catergory (Age 5-10) Third Place Winner of the American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition 2018.

I will continue my efforts in public appearances as a gifted young pianist.
