Jiawei Yuan
Jiawei Yuan has performed solo and chamber music recitals in China, Hong Kong, Italy and the USA. He was a prize-winner in the Russian Music International Competition in California and a finalist in the Wideman International Piano Competition in Louisiana. Born in Datong, China, he began piano study at age five and later attended Shenzhen Arts School and the Central Conservatory of Music's Piano Academy at Gulangyu in Xiamen. After arriving in the United States he studied at Oberlin, the University of Houston, and earned a Performing Artist Certificate and Bachelor of Music degree at Stephen F. Austin State University. His teachers include Alvin Chow, Nancy Weems, and Andrew Parr. Jiawei is currently enrolled in the Master of Music degree program in the studio of Roberta Rust at the Lynn University Conservatory of Music in Boca Raton, Florida. His hobbies include pool, ping-pong, bowling, biking, golf and swimming.
