Anna Nelson


Ms. Anna Nelson, a senior at Morris Catholic High School, has played the piano since the age of 6. She has trained with Mr. Stephen Powers through 6th grade and Dr. Crystl Baltazar from 7th grade to the present. Her current repertoire consists of: Schubert’s Impromptu No. 2 in E flat Major D. 899, Bach's Prelude and Fugue in B flat Major (No. 21 BWV 866), Beethoven's Waldstein Sonata (No. 21 Op. 53), Chopin's Ballade No. 1, and Muczynski's Paganini Variations Op. 48 “Desperate Measures.” Her accolades as a pianist include: Super Bronze Medal in 2016 with Grieg’s Notturno Op. 54 No. 4 and a recital at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Fredrick P. Rose Hall, and Achievement in 2017 with Schubert’s Impromptu No. 2 in E flat Major D. 899 and a recital at Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater, both from the Golden Key Music Festival. She has also taken voice lessons with Mrs. Alexandra Carroll.

Ms. Nelson’s additional artistic pursuits include theatrical arts and multiple choral ensembles through her high school. In 2018, she performed with the Carmen Fidelium Elite choir in David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center through Manhattan Concert Productions’ Octavo Series with guest conductors Dr. Jeremy Jordan and Dr. Amanda Quist. She performed in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall in 2017 through the same program with guest conductors Dr. Brad Holmes and Beth Holmes. She has also performed in shows such as You Can’t Take It With You as Alice, Little Women as Meg, and Big Fish as Jenny Hill, and has written and directed for the original play Headspace. Additionally, Ms. Nelson participates in music ministry at school and the St. Pius X Church Adult Choir, singing at masses on a regular basis.
