Ekta Karkala, a sixteen year old from California, is very passionate about music. Ekta began her musical journey playing piano, participating in many international performance arts competitions. She has had the honor of performing both piano and flute at Carnegie Hall, among many other prestigious venues.
She began playing the flute under the instruction of Mr. Tony Bolivar 5 years ago. Ekta currently studies flute under Mrs. Isabelle Chapuis. She has been part of the California Youth Symphony for 4 years, and is now principal flutist of the Associate Orchestra under Maestro Leo Eylar. Throughout her journey in music, Ekta has always believed in using her talent to help others. She has performed piano and flute at retirement homes and hospitals through the Youth for Music organization, and she now teaches weekly music classes to children and adults with developmental disabilities.
