Celia van den Bogert

Celia van den Bogert, harpist, is currently studying at the Utrechts Conservatorium in Utrecht, the Netherlands with Erika Waardenburg. Before journeying to the Netherlands, she studied at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance in Ann Arbor with Joan Holland where she will return in 2018 to complete her undergraduate degree. Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, she made her debut as a soloist with the Northeast Ohio non- profit chamber music organization, M.U.S.i.C. (Musical Upcoming Stars in the Classics), performing Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro. Celia regularly performs in the University of Michigan Symphony Band and the Contemporary Directions Ensemble, and has played with the University Concert Band, University Philharmonia Orchestra, ÆPEX Contemporary Performance, Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Pops Orchestra, Contemporary Youth Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, and Kent State University Orchestra. She attended the Brevard Music Center in the summer of 2016 and performed in orchestral, opera, and chamber music settings. Celia enjoys performing both chamber music and solo outreach recitals for the Ann Arbor-based collective Chamber Music Michigan, at venues such as libraries and retirement communities. Alongside her classical studies, she strives to be open to spontaneous modes of music-making, improvising with the Creative Arts Orchestra at Michigan. Celia is also completing a minor in mathematics at Michigan in addition to her performance degree, and loves visiting with her childhood cats, Giggles and Rory.
