Rabia Brooke


Rabia Brooke is a Chicago-based violinist and member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra. This summer she toured Central Europe and participated in the Curtis Institute Summer Festival. Equally comfortable in her roles as a solo, chamber and orchestral player, Rabia's performance experiences span a wide range of repertoire, styles, and collaborators. She toured Germany and France with Daniel Rowland for the filming of The Beethoven Documentary and premiered and recorded Stacy Garrop’s string quartet, Athena Triumphant, with members of Fifth House Ensemble at Roosevelt University’s Ganz Hall. As a featured artist at the Kellogg Innovation Network's Etudes for Innovation at Nichols Hall, she performed solo and chamber works with Grammy-nominated banjoist Noam Pikelny and bluegrass band Special Consensus. Other recent performances include a live solo performance on WFMT Introductions, a performance with the Oistrakh Orchestra as a DePaul Concerto Festival Winner, performance as a Curtis Concerto Festival Winner and appearances at the Chicago Cultural Center’s Preston Bradley Hall, Symphony Center, PianoForte Studios, The Buckingham Salon Series, Parisian Salon, Beethoven Bash, International Beethoven Festival, and Chicago’s Schubertiade. She collaborates regularly with the Fifth House Ensemble, pianist Beilin Han of the Heifetz Institute, pianist Ann Chang of the Lied Center for Performing Arts, pianist Adam Marks, pianist George Lepauw, founder of the International Beethoven Festival, and others.

Rabia Brooke has been passionately studying violin since the age of three. Her principal teachers have included Lei Hou and Robert Chen of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Desire´e Ruhstrat of Northwestern's Beinen School of Music and the Lincoln Trio. She has performed in master classes for Daniel Rowland, Rachael Kolly d’Alba and Ani Kavafian. Rabia has also enjoyed the mentorship and tutelage of pianists Winston Choi and Deborah Sobol.
