Gilah Kellner


Gilah Kellner has been playing the violin since the age of eight and is a pupil of Irene Tsoniff. Gilah was the recipient of the Gold Medal at the National Youth Music Competition 2017 where she also won the Category Strings and best performance by a string instrumentalist of a work by a Russian composer. Earlier this year she won Third Prize in the Enkor International Music Competition for Chamber Music, Duo). In 2016 Gilah was the winner of the SAMRO Hubert van der Spuy strings category; winner of the Philip H Moore Music Competition; SAMST Trophy most promising string player, SAMRO Trophy Junior Strings Player (joint) and Festival Junior Trophy Best Performance of a Concerto.Gilah has performed as a soloist with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra; Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra; Rand Symphony Orchestra and the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. She was co-concertmaster of the South African National Youth Orchestra in 2016, has been selected to participate again in 2017 and was the first violinist of the Embrace String Quartet.
