Gabriel Sun
Gabriel Sun is 14 years old and currently attends American Heritage School of Boca/Delray on a full scholarship. He started playing piano at 9 years old, when he suddenly acquired a love for piano music. Gabriel’s instructor is Ms. Olga Konovalova, who has helped develop his piano skills ever since he started. Gabriel has performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall as a result of winning third place in the 2016 American Protégé International Concerto Competition. He has participated in various FSMTA and PBCMTA events, such as judged musicales, recitals for charities, etc. and won top awards at state competitions, such as first place at the 2014 Sonatina-Sonata Festival in St. Petersburg. He has also won second place at the 2017 FSMTA Distict VI Concerto Competition and second place at the PBCMTA Scholarship Competition in 2015 and 2017. During his time as a piano major at BAK Middle School of the Arts, he also won the overall first place award at the school piano competition. He also auditioned for Dreyfoos School of the Arts and was accepted after receiving a perfect audition score. Additionally, Gabriel participates in the Kretzer Kids program, in which he regularly performs for nursing home residents.
