Jillian Coscio


Jillian began playing flute at age seven. She placed first in the nation performing as the Principal Flutist for the 2016 National Association for Music Educators All-National Honor Ensembles Concert Band in Grapevine, Texas. She has also performed with the 2017 All-Eastern Honors Band in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and as the Principal Flutist in the 2015 New York All-State Symphonic Band at the Eastman Theater in Rochester, New York. Jillian won First Prize at the 27th Long Island Philharmonic Competition followed by her debut prize solo performance with the Long Island Philharmonic at Oheka Castle, New York. She also won the highly competitive Sound Symphony Annual Solo Competition, and the Island Symphony Orchestra Annual Young Performer’s Competition, both of which were followed by solo performances with each symphony orchestra as part of her prize. Jillian was awarded the New York Flute Club Young Musicians Blue Ribbon Certificate of Achievement, the Long Island Flute Club Irma V. Miller Prize, as well as the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Scholarship. She was the featured soloist with the Concert Orchestra of Long Island where she performed at the 2016 Huntington Summer Arts Festival Music Under the Stars “Classic Masterworks” concert on the Chapin Rainbow Stage, Huntington, New York. She has also appeared as a guest artist in the Land’s Edge Early Music chamber ensemble. Jillian has played on the international stage in Italy, performing solos with her school orchestra in Venice, Florence, Orvieto and Rome including a Papal Audience at the Vatican. Jillian has attended the Curtis Institute of Music Summerfest, the Aria International Summer Academy, and the Orford Music Academy in Quebec, Canada. Jillian is continuing her studies under Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music as a flute performance major.
