Jillian Coscio


Jillian is currently studying as a flute performance major under Professor Alberto Almarza at Carnegie Mellon University. In December 2017, Jillian received First Prize in the American Protégé International Competition and performed solo at Carnegie Hall in April 2018. She placed first nationally, performing as Principal Flutist for the 2016 NAfME All-National Honor Ensembles Concert Band in Grapevine, Texas and the 2015 New York All-State Symphonic Band at the Eastman Theater in Rochester, New York. She also performed with the 2017 All-Eastern Band in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 2015, Jillian performed as the soloist for First Prize at the 27th Long Island Philharmonic Young Artist Competition at Oheka Castle, New York. In 2016, she performed as the First Prize winner of the Sound Symphony Solo Competition and First Prize winner of the Island Symphony Orchestra Young Performer’s Competition. She was also the featured soloist with the Concert Orchestra of Long Island, where she performed at the 2016 Huntington Summer Arts Festival in Huntington, New York. In 2017, she appeared as a guest artist in the Land’s Edge Early Music chamber ensemble. Jillian was awarded 2nd Prize in the Great Composer’s International Woodwinds and Brass Competition in 2017, the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Scholarship in 2017, the New York Flute Club Blue Ribbon in 2016, and the Long Island Flute Club Irma V. Miller Prize in 2014.
