Angela (Doyoun) Kim

Angela, 16, is an LmusA student who attends Santa Sabina College on an academic and full Music Scholarship and studied with the Associate Professor, Gerard Willems of Sydney Conservatorium of Music for over 5 years and also taught by Dr Kirill Monorosi and Dr Christobel Llewellyn on her music study. Angela begun to learn the piano at the age of 6 from Maria Heo and since the age of 11, she was taught by Professor Gerard Willems at the Sydney Conservatorium.

Angela is a pianist and chorister who plays the viola, harpsichord and the organ at the Santa Sabina College. Last year, she performed her piano concerto in A minor 1st movement by Edvard Grieg in 800 Dominican Jubilee concert and attended Masterclasses at the Great Mountains International Music Festival in South Korea. Also, she performed Symphonic Jubilate Recital Evening at the Marie Bashir School as a guest performer.

In 2015, Angela won numerous prizes at various competitions such as the Penrith Eisteddfod and St George Eisteddfod which she took first prize in. Angela was the emerged winner of the 2016 Australian National Eisteddfod for Solo Romantic/Impressionist section and competed in the Open Age Championship and Open Age Neta Maughan Bach and Baroque Award in Inner West Eisteddfod. In the following year, Angela was a selected candidate to take part in the Little Lev Vlassenko Piano Masterclass in Sydney and was the winner of the Bluescope WIN Wollongong Eisteddfod 16 Years and under Champioships.

This year, Angela attended in International Piano Competitions such as ‘Enkor International Music Competition 4th Edition, placed third Prize Winner, adjudicated by 513 global musicians. In most recent achievements, Angela has been chosen as a first prize Winner in the 2017 Salzburg Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition and invited to perform in Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria, and she performed the Gnomenreigen by Liszt.

Angela is a committed chamber musician who has performed the Brahms Piano Quartet in G minor in the Festival of Music and the Beethoven Piano Trio in C minor Finale in the Chamber Music Night Concert.

Angela is excited to prepare the Beethoven concerto no 5 in G minor for next year which will be held at Angel Place, Australia in May 2018.
