Olivia Rominiyi


Lauded for her "robust, commanding, and clarion sound", Olivia Rominiyi is steadily coming into opera’s public eye. She is currently finishing her undergraduate studies in speech language pathology and voice performance at Old Dominion University. Ms. Rominiyi's 2015-2016 season included her Texas debut as Lady Billows, Manuelita, and Béatrice in Spotlight on Opera’s summer 2016 productions of ""Albert Herring", "Carmen", and "Béatrice et Bénédict"(respectively). In the Fall of 2016, she was seen as Mrs. Nolan in Menotti’s 'The Medium". Her most recent accomplishment is taking on the role of Madame Lidoine, the new prioress in Harrower Summer Opera's production of Poulenc's "Les Dialogues des Carmelites". Other opera credits include Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust, Miss Pinkerton in Menotti’s "The Old Maid & the Thief", Goddess Erzulie in Flaherty’s "Once on this Island", and the title role of Gilbert & Sullivan’s "Princess Ida". Certainly no stranger to the concert stage, Ms. Rominiyi is also a devoted recitalist with a particular fondness for romantic-era arias, sacred works, and French and English art songs.

Ms. Rominiyi has several awards, honors, and accolades to her name, including a the 1st prize Foundation Scholarship from the Kristin Lewis Foundation, 3rd prize winner for the Virginia National Association of Teachers of Singing and a Distinguished Honors Recipient of the Friday Morning Music Club of Maryland. In 2012, she was a scholarship recipient of the National Council of Negro Women for her contributions to her community in the fields of medicine and the arts. She has received 2nd prize in Old Dominion University Young Artists Concerto Competition.

As a born and bred Virginian, Ms. Rominiyi maintains an active performance profile throughout the Hampton Roads and Washington DC areas. She also performs internationally in Nigeria, her second country of citizenship.
