Hahn Lheem
Hahn Lheem, 15, is a junior from Fayetteville, NC, and he currently attends the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. He started playing the violin at age 5, but switched to the cello instead two years later. He currently studies with Elizabeth Beilman, and has studied under Paul Kirkpatrick in the past. He was the principal cellist of Cumberland County Youth Orchestra and All-County Orchestra in 2015-16, as well as 4th chair in Eastern Regional Orchestra and qualifier for the NC All-State Honors Orchestra. Hahn was the winner of the Cumberland County Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition in 2015 as a freshman with Boccherini's Cello Concerto in B-flat major, G. 482. He played in the Fayetteville International Youth Symphony for several years and had the chance to play in a joint concert with the Carolina Philharmonic under Maestro David Wolff. Hahn is currently a member of the MYCO (Mallarme Youth Chamber Orchestra) program.
Besides playing cello, Hahn enjoys studying math. He has represented North Carolina at the National MathCounts Competition in 2015 and the American Regions Mathematics League (the largest on-site national math contest) in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as part of the NC A1 team. He also likes to study physics and computer science.
