Tara McDermott
Originally hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, but now based in Washington D.C., soprano Tara McDermott has been singing since she was 8 years old. Her passion for music first blossomed in her church’s children’s choir, and continued to grow through the years as she joined more music groups. Tara sang frequently throughout the Chicagoland area with the Barrington Children’s Choir and the Willows Academy Chamber Choir.
Tara has collaborated with many distinguished groups, including the William Ferris Chorale, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Joffrey Ballet, and the Washington Opera Society. She has also sung at many well-known venues, such as the Auditorium Theatre, the French Embassy, and the Indonesian Embassy. In March 2017, Tara performed in a production of Lucia di Lammermoor at the Catholic University of America, singing in the chorus. In March of 2018, Tara will be singing the role of Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, also at Catholic University.
Tara is currently studying to earn a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. She studies under the instruction of Dr. Seyoung Jeong.
