Luke Votava
Luke Votava, bass-baritone, had the pleasure of studying with Samuel Ramey, Dr.Randolph Lacy, and Alan Held while attaining his MM in Opera Performance from Wichita State University. He received his BM in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota Duluth while studying with Rachel Inselman. Luke has written the libretto and score of a musical, and is currently assisting a musical theatre studio class that is in the process of learning it, at North Dakota State University. Luke was a Second Prize Winner, of the Best Dvorak Performance International Music Competition (Great Composers Competition, a series of int’l music competitions) in 2017. Luke received the Encouragement Award and Audience Choice Award at the 2012/13 ND District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. He was a Second Place Winner at Minnesota NATS in 2011. Luke sang the Bonze for the Northern Lights Music Festival’s production of Madama Butterfly in 2016 and Schaunard for their La Bohème production in 2013. At Wichita State University, Luke sang Don Alvar in Les Indes Galantes in 2015, and Masetto in Don Giovanni in 2014. In 2013 he performed Frank in Die Fledermaus and Buonafede in Il mondo della luna at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He is an alumni of Opera in the Ozarks in 2015. Luke participated in the Johanna Meier Opera Theatre Institute in 2011 and 2012.
