Jacob Nydegger


Jacob Nydegger, a San Antonio native, is an exciting young pianist whose esteemed artistry reflects his musical sensitivity. In San Antonio, Nydegger studied with Blanca Rodriguez, winning 1st prize at the 17th annual Petroff Piano Competition and receiving the Outstanding Performer award at Texas State Solo & Ensemble in 2012 and 2013. Since then, he has studied under Seth Carlin at Washington University in St. Louis and he currently studies with Joseph Banowetz at the University of North Texas where he has received the Larry Walz Piano Scholarship and the Outstanding Undergraduate in Piano Performance award. In 2016, Jacob was named a finalist for The American Prize in Solo Piano Performance. Recently, Jacob was selected as winner of the 2017 Colorado College Summer Music Festival Concerto Competition where he performed the Grieg Piano Concerto with the Festival Orchestra. Outside of solo work, Nydegger has experience composing scores for multiple films associated with the Texas Union Film Festival. Jacob's debut solo piano recording of 20th-Century Dutch music will be released by the Toccata Classics record label in Spring 2018.
