Anwesha Mukherji

Anwesha Mukherji is currently in the eleventh grade. She is a flutist in the Senior Symphony of the Golden State Youth Orchestra, a Divisa Honors Chamber Program musician, and a private flute student of Isabelle Chapuis. Anwesha started her musical journey with the piano. Drawing inspiration from playing "Cha-Cha Chihuahua" on the recorder in music class, she picked up the flute in band class at the age of eleven. Her first musical achievement was getting into district honor band with an unforgettable rendition of "Hot Cross Buns" - from memory! Since then, she has won numerous local, state, and international solo as well as chamber music competitions. Anwesha is a past member of the San Jose Youth Chamber Orchestra Flute Choir, and has participated in numerous honor bands from local through state levels. This past year she was chosen as a winner to play a concerto with the Golden State Youth Orchestra. Most recently, she was selected as a first place winner of American Protégé International Concerto Competition, and will be performing one of her solo pieces at Carnegie Hall. Outside of music, Anwesha loves spending time with her dog, and volunteering with the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula as well as the National Park Service. She also enjoys singing and playing flute for seniors in elderly care centers.
