Abbie McDonagh


Abbie currently studies at the Hochschule für Musik, Lübeck with Professor Maria Egelhof.
In 2015 as first prize winner of the ‘International Shining Stars Debut Series’ competition, Abbie made her Carnegie Hall Solo Debut with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta Orchestra, performing Bruch’s G minor Violin Concerto.

In 2014 she won the Bank of Ireland Catherine Judge Memorial Award’ and the ‘Arthur Daley Memorial Prize’. In Germany she is a scholarship winner of the
Ad Infinitum Foundation; the Musikerkennen Foundation; and the Fördergesellschaft, Lübeck.

Abbie has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the New York Concerti Sinfonietta and the Young European Strings Chamber Orchestra, in venues including Carnegie Hall, the ‘Church of St. Gregory the Great’, New York and the West Cork Bantry International Chamber Music Festival. She has given solo recitals and performances in the Mozarteum, Salzburg; ‘Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe’ Hamburg; Maria Schutz Kirche in Semmering, Austria; in Riehen, Switzerland; the Palazzo Ricci Academy in Montepulciano as well as the National Concert Hall and the Goethe Institute in Dublin.

She has performed at international festivals including ‘Festival der Verfemte Musik’, Schwerin, Brahms Festival, Lübeck, West Cork Chamber Music Festival, Bantry, ‘Music in Drumcliffe’, Sligo, Ireland, and the Ranelagh Arts Festival, Dublin. She has also performed live on BBC Radio and RTE Lyric FM.
