Sarah Sun


The 16-year-old daughter of Xun Sun and Ling Yu, Sarah Sun began playing the piano under the instruction of JoAnn Jones when she was four years old. In addition, she had studied briefly with Anna Gliadkovskaya and Christian Bohnenstengel. As of 2011, she is in the studio of Dr. Irene Peery-Fox.

Her progress as a pianist is evident in the recognitions she has won for her piano performances: 1st place at the UMTA Concerto Competition; 2nd Place in the American Protege International Competition in which she will solo in Carnegie Hall on November 26th; Two-time 1st place winner of the Encore Keyboard Competition; 1st place at the Salt Lake Piano Competition, and Alternate at the Utah MTNA Performance Competition.

This year, Sarah was selected to perform with the American Fork Symphony, Southwest Symphony, and the Orchestra of Southern Utah. Previously, she soloed with OSU in 2009 and 2014, as well as with professional orchestras in China such as the Henan Provincial Symphony, Hubei Provincial Symphony Orchestra, and Anhui Provincial Symphony.
