Phillip Suwandi
Phillip Suwandi is a junior at a West Ranch High School. He started playing cello in fourth grade and currently studies with Andrew Cook. Phillip has placed in various competitions, including Southern Youth Music Festival, Satori Strings Competition, Los Angeles Violincello Society Scholarship Auditions, Great Composer International Music Competition, and American Protégé International Competition, which gave him an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall. Phillip has performed as soloist with Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber Orchestra and Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra. Last year, Phillip participated in the Idyllwild Chamber Intensive Summer Program with full scholarship. As an orchestral musician, Phillip has been a member of the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra and Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, with whom he performed in concert halls in Vienna, Prague, Montecatini, Cremona, and Rome. Phillip is the principal cellist at his school, the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra and the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra. He has also performed as principal cellist of California All-State, California All-Southern and International Honor Performance Series Orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
