Tianlang Xu


Tianlang Xu, born in March 2019 started to play piano at the age of 5 and half. He studied at Lambda School of Music and Fine Arts under the guidance of Dr. Angela Chan since June 2015, at the age of 6 and half. Since then, Tianlang has won a number of local, national and international competitions.

Tianlang garnered first prizes for two consecutive years at the Crescendo International Competition in 2016 and 2017, and has performed at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall in both years. In the summer of 2016, Tianlang performed with the Carnival of the Animals with the Orford Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Jean-Francois Rivest.

Tianlang Xu is also the first prize winner of the Concours de Musique Pierre de Saurel 2016 (7 years and under).
At 7 years old, Tianlang won the Gold medal in the Concours de Musique La Capitale 2016 (Piano challenge Class 12 Years and under). In this competition, Tianlang was the youngest competitor in the challenge class, competing with pianists up to 18 years old.
In terms of local competitions, Tianlang is the Gold Medal Winner of QMEA Competition 2016, as well as the Grand Trophy Winner of QMTA Montreal Classical Music Festival Competition (9 years and under).

Despite such a tender age, Tianlang has an extensive repertoire including:

● Saint Saens - Carnival of the Animals

Besides piano, Tianlang has very diverse interests. He is an avid hockey player. He started playing hockey when he was 5 years old, and fully enjoys this hyper-competitive and passionate game. Additionally, energetic sports such as swimming, football, baseball are all his favorites. Tianlang also loves tranquility and enjoys focused pastimes. He can spend hours concentrating on reading books on history, science, nature, dinosaurs, and other topics of interest.
