Jordan Swett


Mezzo-soprano, Jordan Swett is in the first year of her Master’s in Music in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a member of the Maryland Opera Studio, and studies under the tutelage of world-renowned mezzo-soprano, Delores Ziegler. Ms. Swett was most recently as the Weaver/Citizen 3 in the world premiere of the new work, “The Young King,” commissioned by the University of Maryland School of Music for her and her classmate’s voices. In addition, she was seen this past summer in Arezzo, Italy, where she attended the Oberlin in Italy summer program and was a member of the main stage division. While there, she performed as Ottavia in Monteverdi’s “L’incoronazione di Poppea” as a full-scholarship recipient. She has previously performed roles at Oberlin in Italy in 2015 and was seen as Arsamene in Handel’s “Serse,” and Paride in Gluck’s “Paride ed Elena,” as part of the Site-Specific Opera Division, and was featured in the ICASTICA Festival. Prior to her Master’s, she performed many roles during her undergraduate education. Ms. Swett has performed the roles of Sally in “Die Fledermaus,” the Sandman in “Hansel and Gretel,” and the Squirrel in “L’Enfant et les sortileges.” She has had the privilege of studying many roles while in productions, making the most out of every rehearsal. She has been an ensemble member in many productions. She has premiered many original compositions. Her upcoming engagements include covering the roles of Orfeo in “Orfeo in Euridice,” and Cupidon in “Orfée aux Enfers,” and in the chorus of both productions with the Maryland Opera Studio, in April. She is also a featured singer in the Opera Scenes performances this April with the Maryland Opera Studio.
