Jolandi Schaap


Landi began in June 2003 with piano lessons with Claudine van Breda. Since 2004, she presented annually to the Sanlam National Music Competition for Primary School Students and in 2009 and 2010, the overall 3rd place and bronze medal awarded to her. As concert soloist Landi performed with the JSO, JPO, RSO, Salon Music, Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra, Pretoria Youth Philharmonic, University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra and Simfonia Juventi. In November 2011 she took part in the Virtuosi per Musica di Pianoforte in the Czech Republic. She went through to the final round and won a 3rd place in her age group. In October 2012 she took part in the Atterbury National Piano Competition in Pretoria where she won the overall 2nd place in the competition and in 2014 the 3rd prize awarded to her. In 2014 she was one of the pianists selected for the Hennie Joubert National Piano Competition and finish overall 4th. Landi also plays flute and was named in the Pretoria Eisteddfod in 2015 as winner of both the Piano department, as well as the Wood and Brass. She passed all her Unisa examinations up to Grade 7 in both piano and flute with distinctions and received numerous Hennie Joubert Music Awards nationally for the highest marks. As flutist she also holds the overall 1st place in the Junior Division in 2013 and 3rd place at the Il Vento National Competition for Wood and Brass in 2014 and in 2015. She was invited to participate in the Unisa Grade 8 Music Scholarship Competition as flutist. In 2016 she was selected as a finalist for the Hugo Lambrechts's 30-year celebrations in the Senior Division of the competition and obtained the 3rd place. She went through to the final round and runner-up in the Philip H Moore National Music Competition in Category E, and received the award for the best participant who has qualified for the final round of the NYMC in Cape Town. She passed matric with 6 distinctions in the Afrikaanse Hoër Meisieskool Pretoria. Landi is currently a first-year BMus student of piano at the University of Pretoria and would like to pursue a career in music. She's since the beginning of 2016 a pupil of Dr. Bryan Wallick.
