Grace Yan is an eighth grader from Overland Park, KS. She was born in Salem, Oregon and started piano at the age of 5. She is currently studying with Ying-Yu Emily Yeh. Grace has participated in the Mid-America Music Association Festival piano competition in 2016 and the Oregon State Sonata Festival and was named second place winner for both. She has established Highest Honors from the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Fall Festival in 2015 and 2016. Grace also received awards in the Oregon Music Teachers Association state ensemble festival in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Besides piano, Grace also plays cello in her school orchestra and participates in Jasmine Dance. She also contributes in community service by participation in her weekly music services at local nursing home.
