Eric Chen is a 13 year old, 7th grade student of Pembroke Hill School in Kansas City, Mo. He is currently studying piano under Ying-Yu Emily Yeh. He started playing piano at the age of 6, and he has been playing ever since. His first competition was at the 55th M.A.M.A (Mid-America Music Association) competition in 2011, and he was in the Group D stage. He won 2nd place in that competition. In 2013, at the 57th annual M.A.M.A competition in Overland Park, Kansas, he won 3rd place. And in 2014, he won 2nd place in the KMTA (Kansas Music Teachers Association) State Competition and honorable mentions in 2011,2012,2013,2016. Eric has also performed in the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Fall Festival and received the Highest Honors rating in 2016.
Besides piano, he enjoys playing and watching sports, especially basketball, he is currently a member of his middle school basketball team. He also enjoys reading.
