Hyrum Arnesen


Hyrum Arnesen is currently studying piano performance and pedagogy at Brigham Young University with Dr. Irene Peery-Fox. During his performance career he has performed with several symphonies including Macdowell’s concerto No. 2, Mvt III and Rachmaninoff concerto No. 2, Mvt I with the Lyceum Philharmonic and Liszt’s “Totentanz” concerto with both the American Fork Symphony and the BYU symphony orchestra. In addition he has received first prize in the MTNA competition in Utah and honorable mention at the division level of MTNA. He also won the UMTA piano concerto competition playing Liszt’s “Totentanz” concerto. He has played numerous solo recitals playing repertoire such as Carl Vine Sonata No. 1, Prokofiev Sonata No. 1, Mozart Sonata K311 in D Major, Bach-Busoni Chaconne in D minor, and Bach Prelude and Fugue in C major, WTC book 2 and Bach Prelude and Fugue in F sharp minor, WTC book 2. Hyrum has also taught piano for five years and attends piano pedagogy conferences. He recently presented research at the National Piano Pedagogy Symposium in Jacksonville, Florida, United States of America.
