Miriam Wagstaff


Miriam Wagstaff, 16, lives in Tropic Utah, a small town located on the rim of Bryce Canyon Nat'l Park. A homeschooler, she commutes regularly to northern Utah where she currently studies violin with Prof. Monte Belknap. Miriam studied viola with Dr. David Dalton, and previously both violin & viola with Suzuki teacher Denise Willey, beginning her violin studies at age 6 with Megan Cottam. Miriam performed the Gyula Dávid Viola Concerto with the Utah Symphony as the All-Star Evening soloist May 2016. She has attended Idyllwild Chamberfest and Meadowmount School of Music, both on full scholarship. Among other awards, Miriam received a Third Place from the Enkor 2016 International Violin Competition, Fourth place in the Stradivarius Int'l Violin Competition—Utah Division, First Place Utah Baroque Ensemble High School Scholarship Competition and Honorable Mention 2015 National ASTA Solo Competition, Jr. Viola Div. She has soloed with the Utah Valley Symphony, the Lyceum Orchestras, Orchestra of Southern Utah and Southwest Symphony Orchestra. Miriam is also an award winning fiddler.
