Christopher Ramsey
Christopher Ramsey, a 7th grader at The Barstow School in Kansas City, Missouri, was born in Highland Park, Illinois and currently resides in Shawnee, Kansas. Since an early age, he had love for music and took an interest in performing and composing. He began private piano lessons at the age of five and studying composition since he was six. He currently studies piano with Ying-Yu Emily Yeh and composition with Joseph Myers. Christopher participated in the Mid-America Music Association Music Festival and won first place in piano competitive in 2014 and 2015 and the first place in Music Quiz Bowl in 2015. He was also chosen an Outstanding Young Performer in Composition in 2014. Christopher was named the second place winner in the Kansas State Honors Competition in 2014 and won 1st place in Music Teachers National Association Kansas State Composition Competition. He also performed in the Kansas City Music Teachers Association Fall Festival and received the Highest Honors with Special Merit Ratings several times. His composition was awarded Honorable Mention in the American College of Musicians Piano Guild International Piano Composition Contest and Award of Excellence in the National Parents Teachers Association Reflections Contest. Besides music, Christopher also loves Tae Kwan Do and holds a black belt.
