Angela Suet Kee Ng


Angela is presently 12 years old and in the Royal Conservatory of Music Level 9 piano. She has been under the guidance of Jane Petroni for several years. She began her first year of private piano lessons in the Introductory level at the age of 8 with Ludwig Lee (Jane Petroni’s former student).

Angela’s achievements in the last two years include the following:

• 2016 Canadian Music Competition (CMC) – Third Place in the National Final, age 11 category.
• 2016 Provincial Music Festival – First Place in Intermediate Piano. Received the Meridian Arts Festival Scholarship.
• 2016 Winnipeg Music Festival - Awarded the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers' Association (MRMTA) Trophy and associated scholarship for Level 8 intrumentalists.
• 2016 Manitoba Registered Music Teachers' Association (MRMTA) Scholarship Competition - First Place in Intermediate Piano.
• 2016 Great Composers Competition - Second Prize winner, Masters of Piano Concerto (Age Group III).
• 2016 University of Manitoba Piano Concerto Competition – First Place.
• 2016 University of Manitoba Intermediate Piano Audition – First Place.
• 2015 Canadian Music Competition (CMC) – National Finalist, age 10 category.
• 2015 Winnipeg Music Festival - Awarded the Institute of Chartered Piano Tuners of Manitoba Trophy and associated scholarship for Level 6 intrumentalists.
• 2015 University of Manitoba Piano Concerto Competition – Second Place.
• 2015 University of Manitoba Intermediate Piano Audition – Second Place.
• Received Royal Conservatory of Music Gold Medals for achieving the highest marks in the province for Level 3, Level 6 and Level 8 piano exams.

Angela also plays other musical instruments such as violin, flute and recorder. She is currently in the Royal Conservatory of Music Level 7 violin. She first began her violin lessons at the age of 7 with Naoko Matsumura. She then continued her violin studies with Jia Hong Tien, a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra. Her current violin teacher is Mikhail Pokhanovski.

For her Level 4 violin examination, she received the Royal Conservatory of Music Gold Medal for achieving the highest mark in the province. She won First Place in the 2016 Provincial Music Festival in Junior Violin and received the Associated Manitoba Arts Festivals Scholarship. She has also been the First Place winner in the University of Manitoba Junior Violin Auditions for the past two years.

Every year Angela performs in numerous piano and violin recitals, and participates in many masterclasses. In addition to her music, she is active in figure skating and dancing, amongst other extra-curricular activities. Angela has a vast variety of interests and hobbies such as travelling, reading, and listening to music (her most recent favorite being The Piano Guys).
