Peyton Chen
Peyton Chen began his oboe studies at age ten. Peyton has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2014, 2015, and 2016. In 2015, Peyton won 1st place in American Protégé’s International Romantic Music Competition, and 1st place in American Protégé’s International Woodwinds and Brass Competition. In 2014, Peyton won 1st place in American Protégé’s International Woodwinds and Brass Competition. Peyton is a member of the California Youth Symphony, where he won the 2014 AO Concerto Competition and performed as the featured soloist with the CYS orchestra. Peyton’s oboe performances won multiple prizes at the 2014 U.S. Open Music Competition and 2015 American Fine Arts Festival’s Romantic Music International Competition. He is a three-time member of the California All-State Honor Band. Peyton enjoys performing in community events, including the Santana Row Christmas Tree Lighting and church services. Peyton’s love for the oboe began serendipitously. One day, while listening to Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, the oboe, representing the duck, and its expressive tone caught his attention. That day, he became an oboist.
