Megan Bauman
Megan Bauman, originally from Medicine Hat, Alberta, has studied music, primarily piano and saxophone, for eight years. Studying under the tutelage of Dr. Glen Gillis, Megan is currently in her fourth year of the Bachelor of Music (Honours) in saxophone performance at the University of Saskatchewan. Megan actively performs in numerous festivals, conferences, and concerts including North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Conference, Saskatoon Music Festival, Alberta Music Festival, Canadian Music Competition, We the Artists Annual Gala, and Music for the Gut – annual benefit concert for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada. In 2014, Megan won first place in the Woodwind Category at the National Music Festival in Kelowna, British Columbia. Most recently, Megan was chosen as a second place winner in the 2015 American Protégé International Woodwind and Brass Competition and 2016 Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition. Megan has performed as a soloist throughout Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, notably in Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. She has received lessons and performed in masterclasses with artists including Fred Hemke, John Sampen, Timothy McAllister, Carrie Koffman, Chien-Kwan Lin, Kenneth Tse, Otis Murphy, and Jean-Michel Goury. Megan has performed with numerous high caliber wind ensembles serving as principle saxophonist including National Youth Band and Canadian Wind Orchestra.
