Jennifer Wang
Jennifer Yu Wang is a sophomore at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She has studied flute with Susan Levitin for seven years, and in that time has been the recipient of many scholarships and awards, including in the Chicago Flute Club and Society of American Musicians competitions as well as honorable mentions in many concerto competitions. This year, Jennifer was a winner of the DePaul Youth Concerto Festival and performed solo with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago, and most recently was first runner-up in the Crain-Maling Foundation Youth Auditions for the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She has played in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra for 5 years and is currently principal in the highest level. In addition, she plays in a woodwind quintet that won an honorable mention in the Rembrandt Young Artists competition and was recently accepted into the quarterfinals of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Besides playing flute, she ice dances, and in her free time she enjoys reading, writing, listening to music, hanging out with her friends, and watching and creating content on YouTube, including recording flute covers of pop and rock songs.
